i dont know if i believe it yet, but im just saying…
does there really need to be physical proof for you to believe that something is happening (people having psychic abilities)?
why do we all study the world as if only physics and the material exist?
what if there really is something else going on here? a “greater power”?

Many proposed scientific theories are errors. Many claims of psychic abilties are errors or fantasies.
The better evidence for psi may be found e.g. in Dr. Elizabeth Mayer’s “Extraordinary Knowing.” She was a professor of clinical psychology at U. C. Berkeley, when her daughter’s precious harp was stolen. She and the police tried everything; in desperation, she accepted a friend’s suggestion to try a top dowser 3,000 miles away. When he “pinpointed” the location on a map of a large city to the exact corner, she began trying to disprove what he’d done. The rest of her book gives her journey of investigation.http://www.tiller.org is Dr. William Tiller’s home page. A world-leading crystals engineering professor at Stanford, he teamed with a biology professor there to construct a series of very well-designed experiments, which prove that trained human meditators exercise psi at the quantum level, in ways that are not possible except for high-tech physics labs using advanced equipment. His latest book is “Psychoenergetic Science,” and is worth reading.
There are good studies on Tibetan Buddhist insight meditation practitioners, which show high gamma wave states shortly after they begin their routine. This state is otherwise associated with high, creative insight and thinking. It is noteworthy that ordinary philosophizing goes on in the beta wave state, and that for the latter to try to describe the former, without being in it, is a serious category error, somewhat like a human trying to describe what ultraviolet light’s color is, i.e., what honeybees see.
Psychiatrist Olga Kharitidi was introduced to the Siberian shaman tradition by a patient; she accepted inititation into it, and successfully incorporated it into her hospital practice, with near-miraculous results. She reports on this in her “Entering the Circle.” Later, due to her success, she was invited to study with a healing brotherhood, and she wrote about that in “The Master of Lucid Dreams.”
When the meditator ( http://www.yogananda-srf.org and http://www.easwaran.org are two good systems, and Jack Kornfield’s “Meditation for Beginners” is another) or psi practitioner becomes more coherent in her soulfield, lucid dreaming and out-of-body learning become possible, according to Mark Prophet (“The Masters and Their Retreats”), Ann Ree Colton (“Watch Your Dreams” and “Men in White Apparel”), and others.

Good fortune.
The kind of people who tend to believe in psychics are also the ones who are:
1.) struggling in life and need answers.
2.) has lost someone they cared about
3.) come from a cultural/religious background where psychic abilities are accepted
4.) uneducated
We study physics amd science because they produce answers. We have medicine, cars, planes, computers, ipods, and cellphones because engineers, scientists, and doctors produce them.
Someone saying they have a psychic ability is like saying you have a super power. It’s as ridiculous as someone who says they can teleport through time……and if you believe that, maybe you should consider writing comic books. Get real.
More than most psychics know or they would be doing the process of getting out of hear instead of wasting their time dealing with mundane subtle powers of the mind. No doubt people can have psychic abilities but that is not the goal of life and I know some who wish they didn’t have them because it causes them so much anxiety. The goal of human life is to realize ones actual real self. (self realization). such as-We are not this material body, IE; Race, color, nationality, Religion, mind, intellect, senses, job, etc. We are all eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. We never die, only this mortal body dies. This material world is not our real home, it is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of misery, only one fourth of the souls come here, and the rest are enjoying blissful eternal loving relationships with our Maker named above. We fell here due to envying Gods position. He made the material world for those who want to try to live separately from Him (Which is impossible because He is actually everywhere). After many lifetimes of trying to be happy in this temporary world one becomes frustrated and board and begins to question their existence. We then seek out real happiness, and when one becomes sincere God reveals how to come back Home. Those who are intelligent, take up the process of self realization (Bhakti Yoga) which begins with the chanting of the Maha Mantra (the great mantra for deliverance from all suffering and illusion), which gives one real peace, happiness and reality. Then at the end of life they can give up all material attachments and fully surrender to God and return to the eternal Kingdom, where there is no more birth, death, old age, or disease and be eternally happy. For info. Go to harekrishnatemple.com Read Bhagavad Gita- As it is by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada asitis.com can be read on line. I am so glad I know this stuff.
Hello Cara
It is easy to throw away anything that we cannot see or make material. People also fear the unknown.
Those people also have many misconceptions as to what a psychic is & what one can do.
Belief like all things spiritual is about faith or experience.
Pam
If there was a psychic then they would be very very rich. They would be winning lotteries, picking winning stocks, making sports bets…..etc. And, every psychic that I have ever seen is some poor downtrodden sole making scraps by fortune telling for desperate people.
Well, if there WERE psychic abilities, they COULD be proven. But it’s never happened. If there really were a greater power, we would be able to prove that it did indeed happen, but perhaps not HOW it happened. But as it is, nothing is happening, so there’s nothing to prove or disprove.
of course there are things we can;t explain, but psychics are demonstrably false. Their predictions are wrong a great deal of the time. And they use tricks to fool people into thinking they are right
I think some people really do have psychic abilities. I don’t know how it works or why, but I believe it is real.
However, there are a lot of creeps out there who will do anything to help people part with their money. Faking psychic powers is one of the scams. These bums ruin it for everyone.
we dont believe in it…because we cannot do it…and only some can…humans have a tendency…if they cannot do it they would either let go off it or try to prove it as a fake…just think of the story of sour grapes and the fox…it is the same gesture….
To that religious post: you are pretty much going against what you just said by trying to make others believe in what they don’t want to.
In answer to the question:
I believe that humans now-a-days are natural born sceptics. So before we think there is such thing as a psychic we will need to experience it for ourselves. I think that all of us have ESP, but it’s locked away within ourselves from the millennia of Religion saying that the greater powers are after you die and to practise this sort of stuff is going to keep you away from eternal bliss and all that sort of things.
In the future, we will look back upon this time as stupid. Like how now we think upon the 1800’s thinking of how stupid it was that women were treated like that and things like that.
Most humans don’t believe in things that they can’t do.
Since basically, if you can predict the future, you KNOW yourself that you can predict it. Yet other people cannot, so they may not believe it.
It’s really a matter of doing-it-yourself.
Cause we are stupid.
Some believe in the psychic abilities, and think that everyone else that want proof are stupid, and just need to believe. While the rest think that the psychics are stupid and crazy, and don’t really believe in them. So which ever one is right, it won’t ever be resolved until all unbelievers get enough proof to believe, or the psychics will lose belief, and stop believing. It is also similar to religion. You religion might be the right one. But others don’t know that, and have other beliefs, and will not change.
It’s a little frightening for some because they don’t understand it – fear of the unknown. Also, I don’t think it’s been portrayed in a positive light for the most part.
I think there’s proof in the repeatability of it.
Because it’s more predictable.
That would be great news!
Psychic’s are real. But they are all different.
Some psychic’s can see spirits, some can hear them.
Other psychic’s are tellepathy (btw, being tellepathic is VERY common in twins, but that doesnt really make them ‘psychic)
Some psychic’s can do automatic writing. (thats writing without knowing what your writing, you just start to write and sometimes you can make out words and it tells the future)
Some pyschics are very intouch with nature and everything and can talk to trees.
omg the possiblitys are great.
I REALLY suggest reading all about it. I have. I’ve seen shows on it too.
It’s VERY interesting.
Okay, I’m only 12 years old, so i’m not an expert, but i’ve been reading about magic, psychics, tellepathy, tarot cards, auras, ect.. for a few months now, and its amazing.
Dont ask a Doctor or scientist about Psychics or nothing because they dont learn about them. They are the people who only believe in the thing with facts to prove they are real. You know? Sometimes you just have to believe.
Research it. Read books. Everything. Its worth it. It’s really interesting. If you are interested in psychics, i suggest reading about magic. Real magic, not like cards or anything. And auras are interesting.
i believe that some people out there do have a sixth sense but there is also a lot of other people out there that just fake it to take advantage of people. those people are the ones that give the bad reputation to psychics.
Yes psychic abilities are real because I have powers like that. There will always be people that don’t think psychic’s are real but that’s okay because I know different.
unfortunately a lot of people fake it, and it isn’t very common.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
The burden of proof lies with those that make the positive claim.
There is no evidence for the existence of psychic ability. This doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. It simply means that it is beyond our ability to verify as true or false.
Therefore, for those that aim to discover verifiable truth, it remains false until proven otherwise.
